TOEFL Preparation Courses: How to Compare Your Options
The best TOEFL course for you is the one that addresses a demonstrated weakness and covers the version of the test you will take. This is a buying framework, not a ranked review based on hands-on testing.

Start with an official task
Try an official sample before buying a course. Record what prevented a strong response: an unfamiliar instruction, missing vocabulary, difficulty understanding speech, weak organization or time pressure. A course that solves the wrong problem can waste both money and study time.
Compare three kinds of support
Official preparation gives you a reference point for the exam. A structured course can provide a sequence of lessons and scheduled practice. Individual tutoring can focus on recurring errors in your responses. You may need only one of these, or a small combination; a larger bundle is not automatically better.
Questions to ask a course provider
Request a sample lesson and an example of marked work. Check which current tasks are covered, how much individual speaking and writing feedback is included, who provides it, and whether you can revise after feedback. Ask about the total access period and whether unused sessions expire.
A practical comparison sheet
For each candidate, record the full price in your currency, access duration, lesson format, marked responses, turnaround time and cancellation terms. Treat an unclear feature as unknown, not as included. Avoid comparing a subscription price with a one-time price without accounting for your likely study period.
Choose by the work you need to do
If understanding instructions is the main issue, begin with familiarization. If you understand the task but cannot explain ideas clearly, prioritize feedback on actual responses. If you miss study sessions, a scheduled course may help you maintain a routine. These are selection criteria, not promises of a score increase.
Use a trial before committing
Complete one lesson, attempt its task independently and judge whether the feedback tells you what to change. Keep your original and revised answers. If you cannot identify a useful next step, ask the provider for clarification before purchasing a longer plan.
