TOEFL iBT vs ITP: Test Format, Scores and Uses
TOEFL iBT and TOEFL ITP are different ETS assessments. If you searched for “TOEFL LTP,” check the spelling on your institution's notice: the ETS assessment is ITP, with an uppercase I. Ask the provider to identify any locally named test before booking.

Can I submit ITP instead of iBT?
Do not assume the tests are interchangeable. Ask the receiving organization which test, version, score and test date it accepts. Recognition depends on the program; broad claims that one test is accepted everywhere or nowhere are not reliable booking advice.
Is ITP easier?
The tasks and levels differ, so “easier” depends on your skills and the assessment selected. A test with different tasks is not automatically the right test for your application. Acceptance should guide your choice before perceived difficulty.
What changed in iBT scoring?
The 2026 iBT uses a 1–6 scale, including half bands. ETS describes a two-year transition in which reports also include a comparable overall result on the previous 0–120 scale. Do not calculate ITP-to-iBT equivalence by dividing one score by another.
A three-step booking check
- Copy the exact test name from the course or institution's requirement.
- Confirm the accepted score report and any component minimums.
- Use official samples for that test before buying additional practice.
